(Solved) - How to resize my Hard disk without convert it to Dynamic
(8 posts)My NB comes with 500 GB HDD, with preinstalled Windows 7 pro 64bit. The all dirve conssiest of one partition, I would like to shrink my HDD and split it into 4 partition for multible booting (win 7 pro, Redhat, win xp, Data), when i using disk manager to shrink my C: it convert the partition type from Basic to dynamic, and that last prevent me from doul booting.
How can i resize, split my HDD without lossing my win 7 pro as primary O.S. without convert the C: drive into dynamic? does Diskpart command do that?

None of the above will help if you already have 4 primary partitions. And that you can only see in Disk Management because some of the partitions may be hidden.
I suggest you post a good picture of your Disk Management, and then we go from there. You probably have to convert one of the primaries to logical before proceeding. But without a look at Disk Management, we are flying blind.

Thank you for help, i need to create more than 4 partitions, and allow my NB to have doul booting.

Well, that is not exactly a snip of Disk Management, but this PW snip will do. It shows that you have only 3 primary partitions which is good. Thus you can make more simple extended/logical partitions in the 400GBs unallocated space.
Cannot Create Partition There Are No Free Mbr Slots
Just make sure you do not create any additional primary partitions. You can even make the C: partition logical. But that operation will only work with the bootable CD of PW because C: must be inactive during the 'operation'. XP you can also install in a logical partition because the bootmgr is in the small system reserved active partition.
Btw: If you right click on the small boot partition in PW and go to 'Explore', you can see what's in it. You can open the 3 folders by clicking on the little + boxes in front.
