Welcome to the Ark of the Ascended!
So you've just jumped through the portal and your no longer in the starting zone. Yep that's right! Your now out in the real world of Telaran where you'll be able to PVP, do Rifts and start crafting/gathering professions.
This is where the game starts to get fun.

Update: I have now made a spreadsheet categorising the top 3 (in order) for each element, then by class its kinda my cheat sheet for quickly seeing which alt I should post frags to. Find it at Updated Fragments By Element sheet. This guide is based upon the information at NORDVEGR, and should be classed as.
You'll see large Purple (Death) and pale blue (Water) Rifts appear every now and then. Run over to them and click the 'Join Public Group' Button at the top of your screen. These rifts are complete by completing stages of killing mobs in which you get reasonable exp and loot. As you get to higher levels you'll not only get into larger groups but you'll see at times there are up to 2-3 groups of 20 players involved in the rift events.
Make sure you join them at least every now and then as they can give you a bit of a boost in your exp flow, not to mention you get Planerite which is a form of currency used to purchase items.
As always.. by simply following this guide you wont waste hours looking for quest objectives and wandering around aimlessly. But by all means explore to your hearts content! :)
