I am a wedding coordinator and I recently did a large wedding at the Belle Isle Casino. This is a HORRIBLE venue to have such a memorable event. They breached the contract in numerous ways. We arrived at the time on our contract to get into the facility to decorate and setup and their was no staff in sight.
I had a super fun engagement session with Camilla and Tom and their two fur babies! The couple chose Belle Isle for their Detroit engagement photography. I loved the vibe at this beautiful location and spent time overlooking the Detroit skyline as well as checking out the fountain and beautiful architecture of the island.
The Belle Isle website says, “Belle Isle Park is a 2.5-mile-long, 982-acre island park, located in the international waters of the Detroit River. Inspired by renowned landscape architect Frederick Law OlmstedРђЎs design in the 1880s, the park was created to provide an urban oasis in Detroit. Affectionately named the РђюJewel of DetroitРђЮ, Belle Isle has significant natural, architectural, and cultural resources. Almost one-third of the island is a natural wooded area that is home to a wide variety of small animals and birds. The park features a number of historic public landmarks including the Belle Isle Aquarium, Belle Isle Casino, Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, Dossin Great Lakes Museum, and the James Scott Memorial Fountain.”

We started the engagement photos at the Belle Isle fountain, which was absolutely beautiful!

We then walked to the water’s edge to get some of their engagement photos with the Detroit skyline. I absolutely love Detroit for wedding photos and engagement photos. It’s still so close to us, but has that big city feel and beautiful charm!
This building with the arch is called the Casino. When I was photographing Camilla and Tom’s engagement session, there was a wedding taking place at The Casino in Belle Isle. We took a peek and it was beautiful! Belle Isle Casino accommodates approximately 250 guests on the lower level and 300 guests on the upper level.
I concluded our time with Camilla and Tom at this fun half-built structure. The two were all laughs as we ended their session. I loved this couple and their Detroit rockabilly engagement session!
